Ellen says that it is exciting to be "home" - she was born in Fredericton and grew up in Wilmot church. During those years she attended Mission Band, Sunday School, Explorers and CGIT (Canadian Girls in Training) as well as a Youth Group. After graduation from UNB she taught school in Fredericton as well as in Québec and Germany.
While teaching was extremely rewarding for her, Ellen felt called to ministry and proceeded to enter into the discernment process. She went on to study at Emmanuel College in Toronto, and upon graduation she was awarded a Master of Divinity degree.
Following ordination in 1999 Ellen was settled by The United Church of Canada in McAdam, New Brunswick, where she served in a cross-border shared ministry. After twelve and a half years there she returned to Fredericton, and has accepted a part-time ministry at Wilmot United Church. She considers her position description - Ministry to Children, Youth and Pastoral Care - as an opportunity to connect with people of all ages at Wilmot church and beyond. She says,
"My interest and commitment to people of all ages has evolved over a lifetime."
Ellen enjoys connecting with people of all ages and is eager to listen and reflect especially with children and youth as we work together as a church community.
