Once every two months individuals and families are eligible to receive grocery gift cards valued from $15 - $40 depending on family size. Twice a month, bags of fresh foods, including milk, bread, cheese, eggs, fruits and vegetables, are available on a first-come, first-served basis (thanks to a generous grant from the Windsor Foundation). The congregation of Wilmot United Church, through donations to the Benevolent Fund, provision of space, volunteers, and steadfast commitment to warmly welcome and assist those in need, is the principal supporter of Wednesday at Wilmot. Wilmot’s United Church Women’s group has been a tremendous support. Since 2017, the Fredericton Co-op Community Fund has provided funds to supplement costs of lunches, non-perishable food, haircuts and bus tickets. Their support has enabled W@W to assist between 40 to 90 people in need for 40 weeks per year for the last seven years! In 2023, The Windsor Foundation generously funded the cost of fresh food bags for 80 W@W guests each month. Victory Meat Market has been a supporter of W@W since its inception. With its convenient downtown location for W@W guests to purchase food with gift cards, plus its generosity and kindness to those less fortunate, Victory remains an essential partner to W@W. The City of Fredericton’s Transit Assistance Program has helped out for many years by providing a generous number of bus tickets to be distributed by W@W. Bus tickets are so very important to enable health-related appointments, grocery shopping, job interviews, family visits and so much more. St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church has been a great supporter of W@W programs for several years. Generous donations have also been received from Holy Family-St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish and Forest Hill United Church. Individuals from New Brunswick to British Columbia have directed financial donations to W@W. There have also been bequests made to the Benevolent Fund in memory of members of Wilmot United Church and others. In the past, W@W has also received financial assistance from The Fredericton Community Foundation, the United Way, Second Harvest Food Rescue, and Dept of Agriculture, Government of Canada.
