The Radical Hospitality Committee devotes themselves to making everyone feel welcome, including members of the LGBTQI2S+ community. wilmot united church Radical Hospitality The Radical Hospitality Committee members reach out to the congregation to make everyone feel welcome, hosting and helping with events that strive for inclusion and an opportunity to meet. We assist in our intentional welcome of the LGBTQI2S+ community and seek paths of exploring other areas where the congregation wishes to strengthen its welcome. Members are always open to be approached for any questions or ideas anyone has to offer. rainbow brunch A gathering of Wilmot LGBTQI2S+ members and allies. We come together to share a potluck meal and conversation. We encourage members of other congregations to join us. Progressive Dinner Part of the Christmas season at Wilmot. Adults are invited to a planned potluck dinner with various courses held in different venues. After we enjoy delicious appetizers, main courses and desserts, the evening ends with a carol sing. PRIDE PARADE Each year members and allies of Wilmot march in Fredericton's Pride Parade. It is a chance to be a visible presence in the community, letting everyone know that they are welcome. CHURCH PICNIC Every June the Radical Hospitality Committee sponsors a church picnic, rain or shine. We provide a barbecue while others provide the worship service and games for the young at heart. Music is a powerful part of worship. Wilmot's music ministry leaders are Director of Music Steven Peacock and Organist/Pianist Margaret MacDonald Music Ministry Mus ic Ministr y For many, music is a powerful part of worship. New to Wilmot's music ministry is Dino Andriani. As Music Director, Dino oversees the musical content of our worship services, plays organ and piano, and conducts the Senior Choir. Steven Peacock, now retired, continues to conduct the Handbell Choir. senior choir The Wilmot Senior Choir is a four-part (SATB) c horus which sings music in a range of classical and contemporary sacred styles. We rehearse in the choir loft from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Thursday nights from September to May, and we warm up for Sunday worship half an hour before each service begins. The Senior Choir is a user-friendly group that combines solid music making and fun in a nurturing and positive environment. New singers are always very welcome! frank t. pridham memorial handbell choir The Frank T. Pridham Memorial Handbell Choir is a three-octave choir which performs at worship services about once a month between September and May. Our rehearsals take place in the Godly Play Room every Thursday night between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., and the musical challenges are always balanced with lots of camaraderie. New ringers are very welcome! other ensembles and soloists Wilmot often welcomes a variety of smaller vocal and instrumental ensembles (such as the Youth Chime Choir) to special services throughout the year. As well, vocal, and instrumental soloists (and, on occasion, music professionals) from within and beyond the Wilmot congregation are a regular feature of our worship services. Dino provides rehearsal preparation, accompaniments, and arrangements for these musicians, with the goal of positive and worshipful musical experiences for our performers and our congregation. Wilmot United Church has several options for those looking to rent concert or event space in downtown Fredericton. Rental Spaces Wilmot is a large building centrally located in downtown Fredericton with a variety of room sizes and a massive kitchen. Our spaces are available to rent for events, clubs, teams, and activities. Discounts are provided for non-profit organizations and anyone booking more than six hours of space. Interested in making a booking? Our rental application will need to be filled out. rental agreement Sanctuary Renowned in Fredericton as a concert venue because of it's fantastic acoustics, the sanctuary holds up to 410 persons. There is a lift within the building and wheelchair seating on the front, left side. Fireside Room A comfortable room with an electric fireplace for meetings of 25-30 people. Chairs are arranged in a circle when you first arrive. The Parlour For intimate gatherings of up to forty people, the parlour is a cozy, quiet place with lots of comfortable seating. The Kitchen Wilmot has a giant kitchen with three stoves, ample counter space and an industrial dishwasher. A kitchen monitor will be provided if you rent this space to ensure that safety standards are maintained. Gymnasium A big space for sport-based activities, children's clubs and events that holds up to 777 persons. Tables and chairs can be rented and set up for seated events. A weekly gathering where attendants can work on quilting, sewing or other needle projects in the company of friends. Tea and treats are typically enjoyed as well. wilmot united church Morning Out Group This group meets regularly Thursday mornings throughout the year, in the parlour from 9am till whenever! Although previously called the Quilters, all are welcome, no crafting experience necessary. Occasionally we choose a sewing project, and all bring our machines to create beautiful items.
